When shopping, the first thing to figure out is whether a four-wheel-drive version of the Colorado has actually ever been used off road.

Old cars are great. For the nostalgia-obsessed like myself, getting into an old car is like sitting in a living, breathing representation of another time. The icing on this giant cake of fail is that if the engine is started and runs for any length of time, the fuel system practically destroys itself, even though the engine might not sound too different. This will often cost thousands of dollars as injectors and high-pressure pumps will require replacement. Possibly good to get out of the Discovery 4 anyway. There has been a batch of bad engines: /carbycar/land-rover/discovery-4-2009/good/ Really, you should probably be looking at a Lexus RX450h: /road-tests/lexus/lexus-rx450h-and-rx200t-2016-road-test/ Not as robust or as capable off road as a Discovery 4, but does have four wheel drive and is a much cleaner and slightly more economical vehicle with no ULEZ worries.
